Paceman Atkinson Adds to the English team's Fitness Concerns.

'Significant concern' for England after Atkinson goes off with a hamstring injury.

The English seamer increased the injury concerns plaguing England when he left the field early on day two of the fourth Ashes Test versus the Australians.

Atkinson pulled up with his left leg post-delivery that he bowled at the MCG.

The touring camp stated the 27-year-old had experienced "tightness" and would spend time off the field for further assessment "over the next few hours".

The series decider in this Ashes battle at the SCG begins on Sunday, 4 January.

England have previously lost fast bowlers one seamer with a knee problem and Jofra Archer to a side strain on the current trip.

A replacement bowler was brought into the squad as injury reinforcement.

His form was underwhelming during the first two matches, taking just a handful of scalps.

He was omitted for the Adelaide match, only to be brought back for the Boxing Day match in the playing XI.

Surrey's Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, claiming a couple of wickets in Australia's first innings, then making 28 while batting as one of just three teammates to reach double figures.

After bowling one over in Australia's second innings, he came back the next day and dismissed the nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.

However, towards the conclusion of his spell, he sent down a change of pace to Travis Head and promptly felt his left hamstring.

Atkinson was recalled for the fourth Ashes Test having missed of the third.
