New Details Emerge Regarding the Finding of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains
Fresh particulars have surfaced concerning the untimely demises of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their Los Angeles home property on Sunday.
A Initial Report
According to a report quoting a family associate, a massage therapist scheduled for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the home. The therapist then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.
After gaining access to the house, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had gone with her contacted 911. Afterward, paramedics found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Charges
Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, as well as the charge related to a weapon, said to be a knife. He is now in custody and is ineligible for bail.
Clarifications
The person close to the family also disputed several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.
The source also refuted circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. The source claimed the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction includes accounts of alleged "unstable" behavior by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. While the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "heated argument" between the two were not correct.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
According to law enforcement officials, the coroner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts indicated the state of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, roughly 15 miles from the residence. He was scheduled to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until Wednesday at the earliest.
