Former Doctor Charged with Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor has been charged with performing assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
