England's Bowling Consultant Southee Unsure on The Ashes Participation
The bowler's most recent Test for the Kiwis was against the English side in December 2024.
England bowling consultant Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be during the upcoming Ashes contest in the host nation.
The former Kiwi seamer is only likely to be present for the first Test due to his involvement in the ILT20 tournament, which begins on 2 December in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old, 36, assumed a role as England's pace bowling advisor in the summer after claiming 391 wickets in 107 Test matches for the Kiwis.
Commenting as England's team for the first of three T20 matches against the Kiwis was announced, he said of his participation: "We are still evaluating that at the moment.
"We will determine what happens over the next little while."
English pace icon Broad had stated the Australia team as their "weakest squad since 2010", but the consultant was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the series, which begins on 21 November.
"In my view there's ever a poor Australian cricket team," he remarked.
"The team's attention is firmly on our own objectives. In my opinion the quality of [the English] side that's heading out to the host country is brilliant.
"It should be an thrilling encounter, the Ashes. Not just [are|do] English and Australian people eagerly anticipate it, I believe the whole cricket world is."
But, prior to the English team head to the city of Perth for the first Ashes match, they face New Zealand in Christchurch on this Saturday.
