Close to 25,000 Experiencing Electricity in Queensland and Victoria Following Powerful Storms
Approximately 25,000 homes in south-east Queensland woke up lacking electricity on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms passed over the area, producing strong winds reaching 109km/h.
Substantial Hailstones and Extensive Destruction
Locals observed giant hailstones as large as 7cm in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that different parts across the state had been impacted by large hailstones.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews activated to manage the widespread outages.
Southern State's Weather Woes
Simultaneously, approximately 1,000 residents in the southern state also faced energy failures after the capital city saw its wettest day in a year and a half.
Rescue organizations responded to 598 calls for help across the area, mostly for structural issues but also for fallen timber and flooding.

At one point on yesterday, more than 28,000 electricity consumers in Victoria were lacking electricity.
Weather Forecast
Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along much of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a atmospheric system continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
The following day was forecast to be the wettest day, with continued severe weather risk predicted across various areas of both regions.
Medical Alert
Medical authorities alerted that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
This caution comes after past events where comparable situations led to significant health impacts in the region.
