Brian Eno Encourages Backing to Get Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Festive Top Spot.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign hopes to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely let down if it fails to, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”
Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.
“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Production History and Featured Artists
The song was recorded in the wake of a major charity concert held in September. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the piece was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.
The impressive roster of musicians appearing on Lullaby includes a range of well-known figures from the scene. All were part of the benefit event, which managed to collect a significant sum for humanitarian aid.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was brought to life by a team of producers and composers. The song blends a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.
The team running the campaign have emphasized that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a charitable pot. These resources will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
“There is no a fixed goal,” a representative commented. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”
The situation in the territory was noted for its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of property said to be levelled or seriously harmed.
“In that context, a few million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is above all making this cause better known and showing there’s another side to the story.”
The song is launching on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a digital service from the 19th of December.
